bid services is a UK registered charity working with deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and physically and sensory disabled people across the UK.

The charity was first founded over a century ago as the Birmingham Mission for the Deaf before being renamed the Birmingham Institute for the Deaf - later becoming BID Services with Deaf People before becoming bid services.

In the last 10 years bid services has seen some significant developments, such as the completion of the UK’s first purpose built Deaf Cultural Centre and the greatest period of expansion and development in our 100 year plus history. This has seen bid services move into new areas geographically and in the services we provide.

The most recent developments have seen us introduce new services for sensory and physically disabled people in Warwickshire and new Supporting people services in Durham; you may also have noticed we have changed our name so we can reflect the organisation’s diverse approach more effectively.

We are still providing the high quality services that have built our reputation and help to meet the needs of Deaf, deafened, deafblind and hard of hearing people. As a people driven organisation, our philosophy is still to support and empower people and work with them on a one to one basis to improve quality of life.

Services we provide include Care Management, Supporting People, Equipment Services, BSL Interpreting, Deaf Awareness Training, Employment, Deaf Care, Palliative Care, Duty Social Work Services, Information and Guidance, British Sign Language Level 1,2 and 3 courses and residential homes that support Deaf people with additional needs based in the West Midlands area..

In addition to this we also have a Development Team, which helps to identify and set up projects and services for the community groups we serve. Our Development Team also undertakes consultancy work for other charities and business.
